If someone at the airport is clearly in need, the airport chaplaincy is almost always contacted. The airlines, the Royal Dutch Military Police, the information desks, and the emergency services all regularly request the assistance of the chaplaincy.
Among other things the chaplaincy is called upon for:
-
Assistance and care of passengers and their escorts in cases of bereavement in the family or other traumatic occurrences.
-
In cooperation with the Medical Services, caring for passengers with psychological problems.
-
Helping stranded passengers. This might take the form of making contact with those waiting for them at their destination, or arranging temporary accomodation.
-
Being a support to passengers and airport-based personnel by offering a listening ear.
In addition, the airport chaplaincy is always willing to establish contact with chaplaincies at other international airports.
